Dimokritos Kavadias is professor in the Political Science Department of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. He has hold teaching positions in political science, sociology, comparative politics and different methodology courses at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the Universiteit Antwerpen.
He obtained his PhD in Political Science at the Free University of Brussels in 2004 on the topic of political socialization and the role of schools. Dimokritos Kavadias' research activities are at the interface of political science, education science and sociology and focus on social integration, selection and socialisation. He was/is involved in research projects on political socialisation, political psychology, education, civics and Brussels as a researcher and supervisor. He is particularly interested in the political effects of socialisation and schooling, using large-scale samples of students, in schools and, more recently, using international comparative micro-data on students, political psychology experiments and agent-based modelling.
He has been director of the Brussels Information, Documentation and Research Center (BRIO) since 2015.
